My name is Shakti Sunfire. I am a writer, a dancer, and a yogini, in pursuit of self-discovery through learning, teaching, exploring, managing and co-creating the world of the performance arts. Along the way, I have stumbled upon a life, rhythm, and movement theory that emulates the intrinsic patterns found in the natural world. I call this Radiant Hoopdance.

The idea is this: that each one of us is a part of the greater whole. Dance and art become beautiful, potent, and impactful when we allow a natural harmonization to what is spontaneously arising, mimetic of the great artist, be it physics, Spirit or Mother Nature herself. When we allow ourselves to be in the space of the heart, where authenticity prevails, we find opening, release and unfettered self expression.
Paradox is prevalent in all things. I have learned that plugging into this paradox - the spanda or creative vibration - this dance along the spectrum that invites all experience and excludes none, the surrendering into the rhythms of nature, becomes that which allows us to participate in the world as it is offering itself to us. Not in some abstract philosophical way, but in each and every moment. In a tuning in, a release of excess over-efforting and doer-ship to make way for the 'real'.
So the method is simple really. My dance is a reflection of my inner world. It tells the story of my heart. My heart beats in rhythm with the macrocosm, with the natural world - unmesha, nimesha, out and in, yes and no-for-now. To feel held in the space of greater harmony is to surrender, fall back and be danced.
This is Radiant Hoopdance. Thanks for checking it out!
